For Employers

If you’re like most Florida business people, employees are your key asset. Whether you run a restaurant, assemble computers or shuttle tourists to theme parks, a ready and capable workforce is essential to your success.

Florida offers a variety of workforce services to the business community at both the state and local level. We are ready to link you to resources and information that can help you find, train and retain qualified, motivated employees.

Direct services you can access locally

Direct services to employers and job seekers are provided through 24 regional workforce boards and a statewide network of One-Stop Career Centers that offer everything from job screening and placement to customized training. To locate a One-Stop Center anywhere in Florida or link to the local regional workforce board, use the Employ Florida web portal. Employer-specific training grants available through Workforce Florida

At the state level, Florida’s Quick Response Training and Incumbent Worker Training programs help new and existing businesses access training grants that help their workers maintain cutting-edge skills and keep pace with new technologies. Training programs like these are just a few of the incentives available to Florida businesses, who also may qualify for tax and cash incentives of up to $8,500 per employee for hiring individuals leaving welfare for work and from other labor pools. For more information, click on Employer Incentives.

Florida links training and education programs to the needs of business

A key consideration in Florida’s workforce development strategy is linking training and education programs with the needs of business. Employers and workers both benefit when high-paying, high-demand jobs are filled. Needs of businesses are identified through state-mandated workforce estimating conferences, which rank high-demand occupations by their projected number of openings and growth rate, as well as anticipated entry-level and average wage rates. That list is used to target training programs through the state’s performance-based incentive system. Learn more about the Workforce Estimating Conference and the Regional Targeted Occupations List.
